The first thing that caught my eye was the basic "X" layout of the image, which is very striking. The foundation itself seems unsure though. Are they on rocky plains, or edging over a cliff? Floating up high? The design of the characters is brilliant, with the elements of the light and the dark going above and beyond traditional horror fantasy tropes. This could just as easily be Saint Michael paying a visit to his old drinking buddy Lucifer. The reptilian, even insect-like structure of the demon is very nightmarishly original especially. The colours chosen certainly create a distinct mood for the scene. I imagine this is early in their combat, but a little more grime/grunge might add to the realism. The flaming wings and floating halo do add to the surrealism of the image, of course. It's a hard balance, what you're going for here, but I'd say you pulled it off well. The dimensions of the physical image are also impressive. I'd love to see this up close. The brightness of the (presumed) hero and the faint light in the distance are the most suggestive in terms of mood, creating a great balance between the darkened violence and the lighter salvation. You totally sold that.

Having been a long time follower of the stories crafted in the Blizzard Universe, the 'Diablo VS Imperius' piece by Alex Horley immediately resonated beautifully with my own imagination of how the characters from the Diablo franchise battle it out in the Eternal Conflict.

Alex's choice of colours compliment the two characters brilliantly. Imperius' golden glow of Heavenly proportions and Diablo's fiery and twisted shape brimming with fire, gives the viewer that tangible quality...this is a battle between good and evil in the simplest form.

Though it may be as simple as good versus evil, the painting portrays it as an epic battle where both characters exert ferocity and determination to end each other.

It's the stuff legends are made of and knowing where this painting is hanging and for whom it was commissioned, I'd say it is fitting that a legendary painter, painted an image of legendary characters for a legendary video game publisher such as Blizzard.

Beautiful and inspiring work, Alex!
